Internet acting slow? Could be because of a massive cyber war taking place in the interwebs right now.
According to BBC, the net has been slowed this week because of the "Biggest Cyber-attack In History". The fight has slowed down websites like Netflix, and some industry experts worry it could start impacting banking sites and email services. The battle started between Spamhaus, a London and Geneva based non profit organisation that helps email providers block spam, and Cyberbunker, a Dutch web host that hosts just about everything( well, minus child porn and terrorist related content).
Spamhaus blocked some of Cyberbunkers servers, and some back and forth name calling, the attacks started. Spamhaus blames Cyberbunker , although the webhost has yet to comment. The company says the attacks started on March 19.
The New York Times notes the first company to mention it publicly was CloudFlare, a San Francisco- based internet security firm that became a target while trying to defend itself from the attacks.
According to BBC, five cyber police forces are investigating this cyber war.
